Arrival of the New Moon

[Ragen-Triskal]

The ship creaked and groaned as it was gently making it's way into the harbor. The crew were going about their duties with perfect skill. The only one not moving about was a young maiden looking rather green. she was a pretty young wolf when she wasn't looking so worn out from being sea sick. Her soft fur was a golden tan that matched the sand along the harbor shore perfectly and she had green eyes that were as deep as the sea. Usually full of light and life and mischief but now dimmed from the rocking of the boat.

"You'd better get your feet under you, lass. The harbor's comin' up soon. You'll need to walk off this ship." a crewman laughed.

The girl groaned and held on to the ship side to keep from sinking to the floor. "Just show me land and I'll be fine." she moaned.

"Heh, you'd better not intend on leaving this place Miss, you wouldn't make another trip over the water." the crewman laughed as he went on his way. She growled slightly in annoyance and turned to see the land she had been waiting to look upon for the last three months. "All or nothing." she whispered as a breeze rushed against her with refreshing crispness.

The morning was still new as the harbour guard commander looked over the list of passenger ships that were to be arriving today. There weren't as many as usual, but there were always surprises. The scout ships didn't catch every ship every time. The ship the New Moon was due any- there it is. Rellik, a dark-furred and handsome ferret, puts down his list, and summons a squadron of ten guards to accompany him to meet the boat. The wait at the dock as a messenger boat sails to tell the captain of the New Moon where to go.

"All right, you all know the drill... let's get the first one over with today, shall we?" The ten reply affirmatively, and Rellik smiles. He was hoping for a simple, routine day.

The New Moon pulled into port and the plank was lowered for the passengers to unboard. Ragen, the young wolf maiden made her way unsteadily to the plank and walked down. Once on the steady shore she couldn't get her legs to quite hold her and she nearly fell.

"Easy there lass, find yer land legs" the crewman from before warned her as he held her elbow to steady her. "Thanks." She said in almost a growl. She couldn't wait to put as much distance between herslef and that floating matchbox as she could.

She noticed the welcome committee standing in a group a few feet ahead and made her way toward them.

The eleven soldiers speak with every adult passenger. Rellik speaks with the female wolf. "Welcome to Castle Brightblade. If you have any weapons, please tell me about them. " The ferret himself is armed with a sabre and pike. All the beasts with him are amred in similar fashion. The castle is a well protected place. The beasts on guard look over every creature carefully, even as they speak. The occasionally ask a passenger to open a bag. The ferret speaks again. "Are you carrying any herbs? If so, please let me see them." NOw, why would something like that be important?

Ragen took off her bow and quiver that rested on her back and took the dagger from her boot. "This is all I have to my name." She replied as her green tinge left her. She was finding her land legs again. "My name is Ragen, or Triskal, depending on your customs." She said with an indifferent sigh.

"Thank you." Rellik pulls a peice of paper from a pouch on his belt. "Give this to the gate-guards, and you'll be let into the city. Enjoy yourself." The ferret moves on to speak with another creature. Beyond, in the harbour, an unidentified ship sails into the bay, and two smaller warships sail to greet it. Everything is kept under control. The ship is escorted in, and Rellik dashes of to the dock. The wolf is left alone.

The castle stands, waiting. It's city is full of places to explore, places to eat, to work, to learn. It is not a city of great tales for naught.

Ragen looked as the ferret ran off and then she looked at the city. "SHould get interesting quickly." she said as she made her way to the gates.
